FAQ

Q. What types of irrigation does Professional Irrigation Systems install? A. We can install almost any residential or commercial system that suits your personal needs from tiny drip irrigation systems to fully automatic lawn sprinkler systems. Q: What kind of service packages do you offer? A: We offer a complete service package in the early Spring that is prepaid for the entire year which includes your Spring Activation, Backflow Preventor Test and your Fall Winterization service. We also offer a Spring Special for just a Spring Activation and Backflow Preventor Test. We also offer each of these services separately, so please call us for more details and costs for your area. Q. How can I be sure I will get a quality system? A. A quality system is flexible enough for your watering needs. It puts the right amount of water where you need it and it will continue to operate year after year with minimal maintenance. Your system will ultimately depend on three things: The quality of the components, the design of the system, and the craftsmanship of the installation. Professional Irrigation Systems uses and installs only the highest quality irrigation equipment on the market. See our products page here to view and read about the equipment we use. Q. How can I tell if I have enough water pressure to have a sprinkler system installed? A. Your Professional Irrigation Systems representative will do a pressure test and design the system to insure your sprinklers will operate at optimal pressure. Should a larger water meter or booster pump be required your representative will advise you ahead of time about the specific details involving the installation of them. Q. Why do I have to have a back flow device and does my installation contractor have to be licensed? A. Lawn sprinkler systems, as they are directly connected to your city water supply must meet local codes regarding backflow devices. These devices prevent water from being siphoned back into the water supply. The type of device required and the necessary building permits licenses and certifications required by contractors vary from city to city. Your city building permit office can tell you what will be required in your area. Q. How much will a sprinkler system for MY house cost? A. It's impossible to give a general price to everyone because every installation is different. The size of the job makes the biggest difference in price. Don't let price be the deciding factor when shopping for irrigation systems. In this business you get what you pay for. Too often people opt for the cheaper bid and end up with a lemon of a sprinkler system because the design, parts, and labor used are inadequate...and therefore canceling out the actual purpose of the sprinkler system: less work! Q. What about a design/plan? A. A number of factors come into play when the design is drawn up. When we place sprinkler heads, a general rule of thumb is to have what we call "Head to Head Coverage" which means the arc of the first sprinkler reaches the next sprinkler head. With that rule in mind, we then take into account elevation change, drainage, sunny and shaded areas, and any future planned landscape areas. The location of the underground remote control valves and the schedule controller should also be incorporated into the plan. A copy of your system plan can be obtained upon request. Q. What kind of warranty can I expect from your systems? A. All of our irrigation systems come with a 2 or 5 year warranty on parts (determined by product line selected) and a 1 year warranty on labor. Some heads carry a stronger warranty than what we offer for other parts. Parts are warranted against manufacturer's defects only. We are not liable for destruction by lawn equipment or vandalism.
